Services

Orthopedic Physical Therapy

With almost a decade of clinical experience, Fisher Physical Therapy offers advanced orthopedic assessment and treatment for injuries, chronic pain, and strength deficits. Whether you're dealing with shoulder pain, low back pain, knee injuries, sports-related issues, or post-surgical recovery, we bring high-level, evidence-based care right to your doorstep.

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

If you’re experiencing leakage, pelvic pain, prolapse symptoms, painful intercourse, constipation, or core weakness, pelvic floor therapy can help. At Fisher Physical Therapy, we take a whole-body approach — looking at the hips, core, diaphragm, posture, and movement patterns that contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction. Because treatment happens in your home, you receive truly personalized care in a private, comfortable setting.

Therapeutic Dry Needling for Orthopedic and Pelvic Health Conditions

Fisher Physical Therapy offers therapeutic dry needling as part of our advanced, concierge-style treatment approach. Dry needling is an evidence-based technique that uses thin, sterile needles to release tight muscles, calm irritated nerves, reduce pain, and improve mobility. This service is available for both pelvic floor conditions and orthopedic injuries.

What Are Our Clients Saying?

Joanna is an amazing physical therapist. I came to her for pelvic floor and bladder pain issues as well as back pain after seeing another pt for a year and having barely any improvement. She was very attentive and sympathetic during my initial visit and made me feel comfortable. She addressed the issues of anxiety surrounding my chronic pain condition and worked with me to develop a care plan that worked for me and my lifestyle. Within a few visits my pain was 70% better than it had been and I've been working with her continuously since to build strength and stability while keeping everything pain free. She is the best physical therapist in my opinion!

Hailee A.

I have had back issues for many years and have had many sessions of PT until my back surgery in 2021. My follow-up PT was initially close to home with several different therapists. My surgeon recommended I see Joanna Fisher. She truly changed my life! I am constantly amazed at the depth of her knowledge and her ability to help a patient understand what each exercise did, showed why it worked and how certain movements gave relief. She would video me doing exercises and I would video her doing them so when I went home there was no second guessing. Her knowledge combined with her patience, warmth, kindness and encouragement have seen me through my back surgery recovery and now my neck and shoulder issues.

It is rare to find someone who “is the real deal” and the whole package. She makes me feel as if I am her only patient even though she is in great demand.

Joanna Fisher is incredible. She’s a true professional, approachable and thorough. She spends the time explaining, creating a very comfortable environment, and follows up. I’ve made tremendous progress - life changing!

FAQS

Why Should I choose Fisher Physical Therapy?

Fisher Physical Therapy offers a level of expertise that is rare to find in one provider.
Dr. Fisher is not only an advanced orthopedic manual physical therapist with fellowship-level training, but she is also a pelvic floor specialist. This unique combination allows her to assess the body as a whole — looking at how the spine, hips, core, and pelvic floor all interact to create pain or dysfunction.

Do I need a referral to see you?

You do not need a referral in the state of Connecticut to see a physical therapist. I am happy to reach out to any of your doctors if you would like me to connect with them about your concerns.

Do you accept insurance?

In order to provide the highest quality of individualized care, I operate outside the insurance model. This approach gives us the flexibility to focus entirely on your needs—without limitations imposed by insurance companies. Superbills can be provided upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What is concierge physical therapy?

Concierge physical therapy means your physical therapist comes to you — providing private, one-on-one treatment in your home. Instead of rushed clinic sessions or juggling multiple patients at once, Dr. Fisher devotes the entire appointment to you.

Benefits of concierge care include:

No travel time or waiting rooms

Longer, more thorough sessions (60–75 minutes)

Personalized treatment based on your actual home environment

Faster progress due to undivided attention

More convenient scheduling for busy individuals and families

What do I need to do to prepare for a home visit for pelvic floor dysfunction?

Please provide me with sheets (one to cover the table and one to cover you) and fill out any forms I send you prior to the visit. I bring everything else with me!

What does a pelvic floor session look like?

Pelvic floor physical therapy is private, comfortable, and tailored to your goals. A session may include:

Assessment of posture, breathing, movement patterns, and core coordination

External or internal pelvic floor evaluation (only if appropriate and with consent)

Hands-on manual therapy to the pelvic floor, hips, abdomen, or spine

Nervous system regulation and breathing strategies

Strengthening or mobility work for the hips, core, and pelvic floor

Education on bladder/bowel habits, pressure management, and daily movement strategies

You will always be informed, supported, and in control — nothing is ever done without your permission.

What do I need to do to prepare for a home visit for an orthopedic or sports injury?

All you need to do is fill out any forms I send you prior to the visit. I bring all my equipment (table, dry needles, etc.) to the home. You do not need any special exercise equipment as I can make any body weight exercise challenging, however, I am happy to use whatever equipment you have available in your treatment program.
